Valve Covereplacement! Not sure which

Okay, ive been on Amazon.com and seen alot of good looking valve covers!

I find the same issue though on more than less and now im not even sure wtf the parts are.

Okay, say your standing infront of your V8 5.0 firebird, your right valve cover has the oil cap and a hole near the front, a tube comes out and connects just under the round part of the carb!

Qestion 1, wtf is this!? Whats it do and do I need it?

Now on the left side, there is only one hole, this goes to the filter, okay I know what this one does, I have seen a few by Eldle that is a small chromed out cylinder that has a filter in it.

Question 2, is this a bad idea? I would prob be doing it more for looks than anything plus it removes another hose!

Answered in other thread - please don't post double threads - gets everyone confused and wastes everyone's time.
