cold start relay?

Can anyone tell me what a cold start relay actually does? I have an 87 trans am gta 5.0 and the connector on mine has broken off. no really wanting to spend 100 dollars or more on it if the car can function fine without it!

IIRC
You don't have a relay.
Batt power goes direct from starter ( when cranking ) to cold start switch to cold start injector (CSI )
You have a switch and a injector only.

The CSI helps the engine start faster on cold starts by making it richer; like pulling the choke out on a carby carb
