thermostat bolts
so i was going to change my thermostat, and some ******* decided to really torque those bitches on there, and i ended up breaking one of the bolts, and the other one just will not budge. any ideas on what i should do? ive already tried to get a broken bolt remover kit, the only thing i can do now is take it to the shop, but ive got really no money. any ideas would be much appreciated

Re: thermostat bolts
try the usual:
-liquid wrench or a similar product.
-carefully heat the bolt and surrounding intake with a torch
(i dont know how practical this would be for your situation. it depends on whats attached or near your waterneck. ive seen smaller butane torches that produce a relatively small flame, but keep in mind an open flame isn't a good idea by fuel)
-as for the broken bolt, id try an easy out. if that doesnt work, drill out the old broken bolt completely and insert a heli-coil.

Re: thermostat bolts
DON'T bother with an EZ-Out!!!
About 90% of the time, they just break off inthe hole; and they're AHELLUVALOT HARDER to drill out, than a bolt.
File or grind the broken end of the bolt flat; center-punch it perfectly in the center; drill it with successively larger drill bits, like a 1/8", then ¼", then 5/16", which should let you get the fragments of the bolt out; if not, or if you damage the threads in the intake, Heli-Coil the hole and put the right size bolt back in, with PLENTY of thick grease or anti-seize to keep it from happening again.
