91 Camaro surging when warm

Hi,
Got a 91 Camaro rs 3.1L V-6 with the 4speed auto.

Heres the deal starts and runs great when cold. Once it gets to 210/220 it starts surging at idle and sometimes will die. Cruising down the highway while its warm it is fine. Just when you come to a stop sign it starts surging real bad.

EGR?

Re: 91 Camaro surging when warm

How would you go about checking to see if egr is any good?

Also, hdis2002 Ive sprayed carb cleaner around while it was running and no go there. But it was cold and it only seems to do this surging after it warms up. What kinda vac leak would only show up when warm?

Thanks

The other thing to have checked is the Injectors. I just had mine in for similar things and found once the injectors got warm 2 of them failed. But i also had start up issues that once i started the car turning it off right away it would not start. I am going to replace the injectors this week or so.

Thanks, Ill check them, but mine will start right back up after it dies. I never have a starting problem once it starts. On occasion it might take a couple cranks to get it to start but once it starts it fires right up every time after.
On the injectors you just checked voltage or pressure to find out you had an issue?

Re: 91 Camaro surging when warm

I had a lady friend that purchased a new 91 V6 Firebird new in 91. She would complain of surging but they always said they could not duplicate. It surged on me so I finally got a face to face with a regional rep. He came to the Pontiac dealer in Rockville Maryland and took a new PROM/chip and reprogrammed it and put it in the car in front of me. The car performed much better and never surged again. I could never get a definitive answer. End
