Broke Down today, Need advice
Hello,
Today i was driving home from work, i was doing about 45 MPH and my engine just stopped responding. It was still running but when i gave it gas it wouldn't really accelerate. I got it off to a parking lot and hopped out and gave it gas from the throttle and the engine would rock a little like it was trying to rev up but ultimately wouldn't rev. I turned off the engine and tried to look at everything i could. Everything looked in place from what i could tell, I don't have that special mechanic's eye and plus is was kind of paniced on the side of the road. I tried and tried to restart the engine would turn and turn but never start. I kept trying and it finally started but it had the same effect, give it gas and nothing really happened. I let it idle like that. after about a min it just died out. I let it sit for about 5 mins and then tried to start again after the 2nd try it started up and was acting normal. I got in and started driving it had a bit of hesitation on accelerating but ran fine other than that. When i parked the car in my garage i could smell fuel. I'm thinking that its some kind of fuel problem i just need some advice where to start.
This past weekend i replaced the Distro cap, roter and spark plug wires. Monday and Tuesday the car drove great. today it did this to me.

quick update.
After i got home and let the car cool for a while i went out there to check the fuel pressure. I hooked up the gauges and got about 42 lbs with the car in the on postion. I started the car up it lowered and stayed steady at about 33 to 33 lbs.
While it was idling i was hearing a tick, tick tick tick sound. I watched the Tachometer every time it ticked the tach would drop. I turned off the car popped off the distro cover and saw that a spark plug wire had popped off i reconnected it and started it back up no more tick sound.
guess my question now is could that have caused my symptom above? thanks!

i have seen this since the 70s there is a wire retainer on 86 and older HEIs it keeps the wires from....popping off the cap.find one. and be happy
