Acceleration issue, 1987 350 TPI

My 87 Camaro has always had an issue with acceleration. Even with new plugs and wires.

As I hold the throttle to the floor and accelerate through the gears, from zero to 90+ is does not have a smooth 'pull'. It seems to surge/lag in almost a sawtooth pattern as it gains speed. It is not severe, just the sort of odd pattern that you can 'feel' but it is not tossing things around. Almost a subtle 'feel it in your shins' motion.

No knocking, no pinging (with super unl, occasional pings on 87).

No backfiring, no hard starts.

Just a weird acceleration curve. You can feel it the most in the second gear range. But it is present in all gears.

Where do I start to track this down?

I assume they are the originals. I have no records of them being replaced by the previous owner, but he was not the original owner.

No compression test yet.
