Hey all, I recorded this video today of the sounds made by the 1986 Camaro 2.8L v6 I just purchased. The odometer only displays 34,000, and I assume it means 134,000. It was not turning over at all when I bought it Friday, but after replacing the Starter and the battery, it turns over, but with difficulty. And it sounds horrible!

The only history I have on the car is it stalled on the freeway 2 months ago and has been sitting ever since. The oil and coolant were low when I had it towed home.

There is a squeeky noise and a knocking noise. Is my engine shot or could it be something else?

I am a 26 year old woman who loves Camaros but knows nothing about cars and don't have many associates that do either. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

 

sounds like a rod knock and bearing grinding it needs a new engine.

 

The good thing is those engines are not very expensive. Good luck, wish you the best! I bought a 89 RS with a V6 2.8 not running. Good thing was just the fuel pump.
But also I had to replace all my spark plugs,cap,wires, clean injectors, trans seal, and a few interior parts. The car really did only have original 49,000 on it. The car is real tight and clean. Hows the body on your car? post some picture's so we have a good idea what way you might want to go.
