I was adjusting TPS and IAC, but the battery died so I put it on a charger. When I tried to restart the car it was dead. I could hear the fuel pump but no crank at all, complete silence, but it was running great a few mins earlier.. I then noticed after turning the key to the ON position. The Check engine light stays on solid and doesnt turn off. I looked at a live datalog and had no codes... only thing I did see was the voltage at the fuel pump says at 0.00 even when I try to start the car but I can hear the fuel pump pumping. I Then tried putting a jumper between the A+B terminal to look for codes.. just "12" nothing else?? I have recently installed MSD 6AL and landed pos and neg under that battery terminals as per MSD..Any ideas??? also have been hearing a very fast intermittent noise almost like a short from under the hood?

 

also checked fuses-all good

 

I'm having this same exact issue!! Someone please help! The car ran good 2 days prior, now it will not even crank. I even replaced the neutral safety switch, and it made no difference!!

 

my issue turned out to be the Vats relay located inside the car under the plastic cover that has the hood release. I just removed it and butt spliced the heavy green wire to the heavy yellow..think they were both 10 guage.

Jump out the starter with a screw driver between the 2 starter terminals, if it cranks you know its between the starter and igntion. check the 4 orange( all about 6 inches) fuseable links( make sure they have continuity) off the starter then it changes from orange to a 10 guage Red under the drive kick panel after that it turns yellow to the vats relay near hood release plastic cover panel, then turns green to the neutral safty switch under center console, then purple out of the neutral safty direct to the starter selinoid.

if you try to jump out the starter with a screw driver between the 2 terminals and it doesnt crank u know its between the starter and battery.... make sure the battery isnt dead... and you have good grounds...after that i'd start to suspect the starter itself.. good luck

 

Thanks for the reply! My car genius buddy came up and took a look and in 10 mins got it running. He jumped the starter and it was working fine. He took a look at the new neutral safety switch I installed, and after adjusting it some, got the car to start and run great. We later upgraded the battery to a 1000CCA one and it starts better now too.
