Need help identifying wire

hey guys, i recently found this wire dangling from the bottom of my 92 305 engine bay. I been having problems with a rough idle here recently on start that smooths out but throws a SeS light on as soon as it smooths out.I used the paper clip method and got a map sensor and fuel pump error codes, replaced the map sensor but want to try all my options before replacing my fuel pump. I checked the fuse, in process of changing the relay and fuel filter.Anyways i was wondering what this strange wire was and whether it could be a cause of some of my problems.

If your electric fan is working, then it's the knock sensor wire.

Knock sensor is in the block, has a mushroom looking connector on it. It senses spark knock and sends info to computerized distributor to retard/advance timing to get rid of knocking. Here's a pic of what the knock sensor looks like: http://tpiparts.net/inc/sdetail/10956/428

You can order another connector end at just about any auto parts store - ask to order a Dorman part number 85140. Or you can order it here: http://tpiparts.net/inc/sdetail/10962/3658

Dealer would also be able to get, but cost is going to be higher at dealer, and they won't have it in stock either.
