'92 Z28 mods?
'92 Z28 mods?
Hi all!
New member here. I joined today because I wanted the opinions of the experts.
Ever since I was in high school I wanted a '92 Z28. My buddy had one that he had put cams and whatnot into and I loved the style, loved the sound, loved the performance. I never had a whole lot of money, and after high school I managed to scrape enough money together for an old '87 6-cylinder that misfired, had bad cylinders, and needed a lot of bodywork. It sounded like crap, looked like crap, and ran like crap. This did not satisfy my desires/dreams (obviously) but I loved the car and had as much fun with it as possible.
Now that I'm older and have a good job I decided to reawaken my old dream and get myself a '92 to play with on the weekends and maybe take to the local strip for some passes. I want to buy one and rebuild the engine to give it that mean, muscular sound and performance that drops kids' jaws and spark that desire in others that I felt when I was a kid.
I want to rebuild the engine myself with my father as a weekend project car, but I have no experience with deciding what parts to buy and install in the car. I'm hoping some of you will help me out here with suggestions on what combos will work nicely for the car that would achieve 11-12 second 1/4 miles. I'm open to any ideas and it doesn't matter if the engine is a 305 or 350. My budget is $10-$15k.
Any help from all you Camaro gurus would be greatly appreciated!

Re: '92 Z28 mods?
Is that total budget, or motor budget? I've got 15k into my 1992 RS, but no go fast motor yet - all suspension, restore, and paint so far.
With that much motor budget, I'd look at a swap to an LSx option.

Re: '92 Z28 mods?
Pretty much just for car itself and engine mods. The body and suspension can wait for now. I'd like to get the car running on the street before I started working on the aesthetics. I don't mind spending more in the future to make it purty; I would just like to know how beastly I could get it for about $15k. Like I said; I have no idea what to do. I've had friends suggest buying the car and modding the engine, and suggestions involving buying a crate motor for it. But none of them have done this before and I wanted opinions from people who have actually made their own BMFers.
