Took car out today and it started acting up

Have a 92 TA convertible that I have not driven much lately, today I took it for a good ride. Stopped to put gas (premium) and drove about 20 miles and turned back to come hm. On the way back it started to hesitate a bit and it almost stalled on the freeway so I pulled over to check it out. It idles fine and there's no check engine light. I tried to drive it hm but it started acting up again so I left it at my brothers. Recently tuned it up so most everything is new. Could it be fuel filter? Fuel pump?

sounds like your pump. check your fuel pressure. and change that fuel filter. How old is your fuel filter?

Not sure, bought the car last year. Got under the car today and the filter looks old. Playing it safe and replacing both pump and filter.
Thanks

You sure its not just bad gas? A few months ago I had parked mine and I had filled it up and driven it around a bit. The next day I got to the turning lane in front of school and the car started to rev between 750 and 1500. It would bounce back and forth 8 times and then the car would stall. It did that 3 times until I finally just let the car stay off until the light turned green (it was a very long light, it took maybe 2 min?). As soon as the light turned green I turned it on and drove into the lot, parked it, and popped the hood. It wasnt doing it anymore and to make sure I let it sit for another minute or 2. Nothing wrong at all. Everything has been smooth up to this day. So before replacing make sure you start it and see if it just has some bad gas in it. Let it sit for a while and if it starts acting up again after you try reving it a couple of times, then you should move on to the filter and pump.

Re: Took car out today and it started acting up

Great news! My car is fixed and runs like a champ.
Turns out it was the injector(s)? Jumped the gun and installed a new fuel pump/filter. Still ran like crap. I then ordered a new set of injectors (bosch III's) and while installing them I noticed the right rear injector wasn't even plugged in! I think a combination of that injector and one or more of the original injectors was bad causing the car to run bad during acceleration. While doing the injectors I noticed the water pump looked crusty and old as well as the EGR valve, replaced those. The tensioner pulley, serpentine belt, and radiator hoses looked stressed so those too got replaced. Took the car out for a test drive and I was impressed, never knew my little 305 could get down like that.lol scares me now that I chose to drop a 350 in my project TA vert.

You should always check for loose connectors first... (Now he tells me, he says. )
