92 rs intake gasket

I took off my intake to find that the passenger side rear port for antifreeze was blocked off by a steel insert in the gasket. My new gaskets doesnt have this, why would the old one have this?

Thanks

I don't know why they had those plates.

Doesn't much matter one way or the other. Your intake is blocked off there, right?
