Re: I have huge car trouble!
Not sure where in the world you're looking for injectors, but I bought a new set of Ford SVO 19# injectors for about 220 from Summit a few years ago. And yes, those Ford SVO injectors were direct replacements for the factors Multecs in my 91 Trans Am. The only thing I didn't reuse were the clips holding the injectors to the fuel rail. Just needed a bit of manual adjusting various injectors once I started to bolt the rail down.
Took about about 7 hours to do the entire swap, although I did have a few other issues such as replacing the EGR valve that I could now get to easily with the plenum off and a good while scraping off the rock solid gaskets off the runners and plenum. I couldn't walk the next day being bent over the car for 7 hours, but it got done.
I'd never even looked at a fuel injector before either. I will say this, if I can replace an axle shaft, wheel bearing and seal outside Advance Auto parts in a few hours with never in my life having so much as glanced at an axle shaft, bearing puller or anything of the sort, you should have no trouble doing most of this work yourself. This doesn't include replacing water pumps, radiators, drum brakes, disc brakes, front wheel bearings, brake hoses, rear shocks and springs, hoses of various types too numerous to count, starters, alternators, batteries, AC compressors, evaporators and accumulators and a slew of other things... Again, with ZERO mechanical training and having NEVER ever replaced or looked at any of these things more than a day before I replaced them, you can too.

Re: I have huge car trouble!
Update on the car:
My problems just might possibly be gone.
A few weeks ago I was lookin on ebay for engines and stuff just cause I was bored. I came across a rebuilt 1988 305 IROC engine with a few custom things here and there and only 1,000 miles for only $999, so I hit 'watch' just to see where it went. What I didn't realize is that I was on my dads account. So i guess my dad saw it and emailed the guy asking what was rebuilt and what came with the engine.
It comes with Comp Cam, custom wires, Hydraulic Roller Lifters (not sure what these are?), Computer and wiring harness with adapter for laptop.
This morning my dad wakes me up, tells me to call my mechanic and see if he could do an engine swap and how long it would take. If he can't do it, move to the next mechanic. The good thing is it's only 45 minutes away so I can borrow my friends truck and head up there to pick up the engine.
EDIT: engine most likely comes with distributor, custom wires, injectors, 1,000 miles; Comp Cam, Hydraulic Roller Lifters, computer, wiring harness, alternator and such, not sure about sensors though.
I'm sure my dad already asked about mostly everything cause he's smart about his buying on ebay. But just in case, wouldn't injectors come with a rebuilt engine?
The only weird thing is that the guy thats selling it, hasn't sold any other car stuff. Mostly clothes. If we do buy it we will ask for receipts to see what he's done, and we WILL be picking it up since it's only 45 minutes away.

Re: I have huge car trouble!
We just called the guy whos sellin' the engine. He threw 4 grand into rebuilding the engine.
Everything in the engine is new with 1,000 miles or less, block was machined, reconditioned connecting rods, crank reground.
It comes with an MSD distributor, Comp Cams, Roller Rockers, A/C, Alternator, new plugs/wires. No headers, starter, or exhaust manifold though. I'll just use the ones I have now.
And a laptop hook up. An adapter so I can increase or decrease performance of my car by plugging the computer cable into my laptop.

Re: I have huge car trouble!
Step one: cant figure out your motor issues.
Step two: go buy another mans motor issues.
Looks like your going backwards here bro
puting 4000$ worth of parts put in a motor will not make it run/idle better/smoother
Go to a drag strip and listen to the cars that hit 12 seconds or better... Is that how you want your car to idle? does it sound good?
about the new motor... Is the cam made for FI or a carb?
Is the MSD dist going to work with your ECM?
if your ditching the ECM then you will need to rewire your fans...
Just did my 260k mile TPI motor put new gaskets, rings and hit the cylinderwals a bit to remove the glaze, took heads to head shop... found micro cracks
got junk yard 1991 heads 100$ + valve job 250$ got new plugs/wires/cap and a few sensors only parts I replaced was the T-chain and water pump the cam was fine, crank was fine, block was fine. I got it back together in 2weeks all by myself and fires right up hope to get another 200K out of it(had 260k on it). spent close to 1000$
the motor was a running motor when I took it apart, when the head shop called and said my heads had micro cracks I cried they said when the motor gets warmed up the cracks will cause a missfire might be your issue...

Re: I have huge car trouble!
The motor is brand 'new'
He restored a 1988 camaro for his daughter, put $7,500 into the car. $4,000 into the engine (machine shop, upgrades, heads, etc.)
She drove it for a few months with her permit. The day she got her license, she wrecked the car. In the pictures of the engine I can clearly see a few body panels of a red camaro that are bashed in and a rear axle thats dangling. He said the front end was untouched.
The bid on ebay ended so I offered $900 and he took it. I'm driving up there this weekend to get it.

Thats alot of motor to give to a daughter that just got her license lol but all I'm worried about is what if your problem is not engine/mechanical related?
What if your problem has to do with electrical? Have you thought about that? You might end up with the same problems after the new engine is in because you never fixed the electrical/sensor issue.
But anyways, hope it works out for you. Sounds like alot of engine though I hope you dont have smog laws or anything.

Re: I have huge car trouble!
Well my current engine is just about done anyways. It needs new heads, injectors, has major sludge and carbon, a few micro cracks, and whatever else we have yet to find. I'm going to be right by my mechanics side while he does this engine swap so if he finds something wrong with the wires or sensors, i'll tell him to stop everything and when I get the new part we will continue. If it is electrical i could ask my mechanic to take a look at my wiring harness while the engine is out. And besides, sensors are relatively cheap.
