i am very stumped. why would it be when i disconnect the est bypass the car runs fine but when i hook it back up the car dies as soon as i put it in to gear?? all i want is to drive this car.im starting to think my car doesn't like me. does this sound like a dizzy issue? ecm? i have no clue. not pulling any codes either. i cant run the car with the est bypass disconnected. heeeellllllppppp!!!!!

 

does anyone have any ideas on this? im thinking i may have a bad ICM or pick up coil. just fishing for ideas here.

 

well, certainly it could be a distributor problem. How many miles on it? I have had to replace distributors in an 86 and a 92 z28 because of similar issues. I would think if it were the ECM you would have issues in other areas too.

 

i have thought about just changing the distributor and killing 2 birds with one stone. between the price of a delco ICM and pick up coil, another 10$ will get me a new dist. and it will be easier to install.

 

I did that. Went to O'Reilly Auto Parts and got a brand new one for $139.00 and it was complete, cap, rotor, and module installed. The brand was Richporter Industries. It's no MSD, but works just as well for half the price.
