ATF in manual transmission???

'84 Firebird S/E, 2.8L V6, 5 Speed manual transmission.

I have two questions on this car.

1- We have a single clunking sound from the rear when you take the car out of gear when coasting and/or when we put it into reverse gear, but only once on each occasion.

UV joints have been replaced. Bearings look good. Rear end differencial was low on gear oil, in which we filled it up to what it was supposed to be at.

After talking with the previous owner's last week, he told us that he had put ATF in the tranny because it was low. When my husband looked at it, it was milky looking.
Question is...............ATF in a manual transmission? What is causing the clunk sound?

2- Front headlights............UGH!!!
Driver side will not go up, but if you put it up manually, it will go down.

Passenger side will not go up or down, only manually.

Isolation relay shows no power in pink, blue and blue w/stripe wires when needed.

Relays have been changed, and so have the motors along with the interior switch.

No modular near firewall as someone had mentioned.

Please HELP!! We are going nuts here with this car!!

Welcome to TGO.

ATF can be used in T-5's. Check the following link for more info about that crazy business:

As for the clunk, a common problem is the trans mount.

Questions about the headlight might be better addressed in the electronics forum.

Best of luck with your projects.
