Coolant dripping from trans line not sure where it's coming from

I put this in the general engine forum because i'm not sure where the source of the coolant is coming from it look as though it is leaking from the trans line ( See pic). I felt around and it doesn't feel wet except on the line. Transmission fluid looks nice and pink. If the car runs for 10 minutes I will end up with a spot the size of an orange on the driveway. I have a brand new aluminum radiator ( Champion) and an external trans cooler. Any idea what the source of the leak maybe? BTW: There was a visible green drip where the arrow was I wiped it before I took the picture.

Re: Coolant dripping from trans line not sure where it's coming from

Based on the amount of coolant on the transmission and the starter, I'd say, intake gasket. Possibly the heater hose fitting back there if your car has that.

Re: Coolant dripping from trans line not sure where it's coming from

I checked around the perimeter of the manifold and did not see any coolant puddled ( or lying in the channel where the head meets the manifold). I also looked around the back of the block and did not see any coolant puddled anywhere. I would think if it was dripping down it would be puddled somewhere. The heater hoses looked ok the firewall did not have any fluid marks on it and the hoses seemed dry. The engine is only about 2 years old with < 1000 miles. Any other ideas or suggestions?

looks like it could be weeping out that back/side of the head gasket then down the block to the starter...you get my point....i could be wrong but is the edge of the tranny wet to?

Re: Coolant dripping from trans line not sure where it's coming from

You can see the green stain on the starter, so it's coming from higher than that spot. Coolant on a hot engine/starter will evaourate quickly so you might not see the liquid, only the residue.

Check above the starter, if you have dual fans the secondary fan switch is located there in the block.

A pressure tester will I.D. the leak quickly.

Correction: That switch is in the HEAD above the strater, not in the block. Sorry.

Rented a pressure tester from Pep Boys and the leak ended up being at the heater hose, tightend up the clamp and problem solved.

Thanks
