1987 Camaro Iroc-z help me please

Hey i got a 1987 Camaro Iroc-z 5.7 and everything was runing fine but i took of the tpi setup on the to off just to polish it and i put it back on the next day and it started to idle real low but dosnt shut off idles at like 5 just above 5 and before it would idle at 10 so i dont noe whats up im thinking maybe its the IAC but i replaced that to and same thing and i cheaked all my house and every thing but ntn it off and if i take out the MAF sensor plug by the ait filter then it would start to run much better it gose at around like 10 to 15 so please Help Me Thanks.

If the engine is stock, the idle is supposed to be around 600 or "6". Sounds like you may have fixed something by accident.

Sounds like he may have fixed a vacuum leak. When you were unplugging the MAF, you were putting the computer in "limp home" mode, which may be why it idled up. Someone will correct me if im wrong....

When i start it runs fine and it was a 350 before now its a 350 but stock comp ntn done to prom and it kind of sounds like it will shut down on you when its idle but dosnt if any if this helps

My '87 IROC idles around 600-700. It is a carbed 350, not a TPI like yours (was idling around 12-14, but I don't think the PO knew how to tune a carb because my dumb *** did it in the span of 30 minutes when I got it home). It also sounds like a real slow, throaty growl but it stays running. You'll get used to it. Like hdis2002 said, I think you fixed something while you were cleaning stuff up.

My take is this: if you idle down the strip with your engine rumbling like it should and you get panties thrown at you then everything is working as it should. :-)
