Why not? You have the whole thing out and it's easier now than it ever will be...

Re: Back From the Dead 88 Camaro RS
but, looking at the pics of the clutch, would it last me, lets say, another year?

Re: Back From the Dead 88 Camaro RS
I'd replace it, the top part of the friction material looks quite worn in the first picture near the top. Hub and torsion springs look good, you could probably get more time out of it, but like KMK454 said you already have it all apart and it's gonna need to be replaced at some point anyway might as well do it now. Proabably want to do the timing chain too as preventative maintenance. A lose timing chain can jump or retard timing.

Can't speak for everyone else, but every time I've HAD to replace a timing chain (as in so worn out that the car won't even start), it's been because the teeth on the gears disintegrated, and not a chain problem.

I wouldn't replace a chain without doing gears also. Spend an extra $25 now, or tear the whole front end of the engine apart later.

Re: Back From the Dead 88 Camaro RS
Have you heard that engine run? With the sludge buildup on the heads I suspect it has a couple hundred thousand miles on it. New chain and gears would be a good idea if the engine runs quiet and doesn't smoke. What does the pressure plate and flywheel surface look like? If blued and cracked I'd not bother with a new disc at this point. Pretty decent looking car, I like it.

Re: Back From the Dead 88 Camaro RS
the car has 169k miles on it, i carfaxed it, so it only roled over once, i got the car, with everithing, only missing rotor and cap and fan for 500, no late fees, bargain right? XD
