rollover crash, question about engine startup
Happened almost 2 months ago and my baby has napping in the garage all covered up. I am losing my motovation so i really need to fire this engine up and heat that rumble once again.
The starter turned the flywheel about a half a turn then froze. Right now I have # 1,3, 2, 4 spark plugs out and tried cranking it by hand on the front of the engine with a ratchet. Oil came spilling out of the #2 plug hole which is the passenger side (obviously) that it layed on after the crash. It did turn though. Now is there anything I should be aware of here? I am learning as I go and I have had the car bug for about 3 years now. I gotta get this thing fired. The oil thats coming out is clean with no other fluids mixed in with it.
Any advice is appreciated, Sincerely Matt.
BTW looking for a decent roller in WI, MN or IA to swap my goodies over to.

Re: rollover crash, question about engine startup
there is a chance of a bent connecting rod or collapsed
piston skirt from the engine locking due to oil in the
cylinder, but since it only turned 1/2 turn with the
starter i'd recon there is no damage.
Seen a '95 astro van 4.3 that "hydralicd"from a failed
fuel regulator filling the cylinders with gas(owner kept
trying to drive the van for a week with the bad fuel
regulator
) the engine ended up with a bent rod...

Re: rollover crash, question about engine startup
take all the plugs out, let the cylinders drain of whatever may be in there. Change the oil, and antifreeze, and if all looks well, see if it starts. If the motor is damaged from the accident, it will be apparent immediately.
