top tranny to motor bolt
I posted in the tranny forum no replies.I'm trying to figure out how to get the top tranny to motor bolts out, without taking the motor loose.the manuel taked like the dipstick braket one is supossed to come out before the drive shaft and torque arm are disconected and the tranny crossmember dropped.what kind or tool combination aim I supposed to be using.Or what stuff do I have to move.I don't want to do alot of unessasary work.

Re: top tranny to motor bolt
I always attack those from the top side with an open ended wrench. I have enough clearance between the firewall and block to hit them. I just removed my 700r4 last weekend this way. You might want to remove/move the plug wires and starter/heater wiring to make life easier.
If you already have the driveshaft, torque arm, and crossmember out, you can let the back end of the tranny hang down a bit for clearance and use a combo of extensions with a socket and go through the tranny tunnel to hit them from the back of the tranny. I had to use this method for pulling my 4L60E in my Colorado last weekend.

Re: top tranny to motor bolt
gotta agree. do it from the top. i pull the distributor for more room then jack the rear of the trans up slightly. always seems to work for me that way.
