Full roller rocker arms

Before I pull the trigger on a set of full roller rocker arms I got a few questions.

1) is there any advantage between an aluminum set vs. steel vs. stainless steel?

2) does the difference between 1.5 and 1.6 really make any noticeable difference in performance?

3) with factory heads, do I need to use self aligning arms? The 350 I'm running now came with them ('91 flat tappet cam truck block) whereas the original 305 did not ('87 roller cam LG4). It has a comp xe262 Flat tappet now, and I've been using the stamped rockers that came with the 350.

Re: Full roller rocker arms

yes the different size rockers will affect overall performance by enough to feel. i had some 1.7s roller rockers on my 305 tpi and it nearly doubled my idle speed from 800 to 1500. idont really know the difference between the type of metals other then the aluminum would be lighter and in turn easier on ur cam. and with roller rockers for making sure they set right u mostly just want to make sure the part the touches on the roller should be in the center of the valve stem

Re: Full roller rocker arms

I've seen depends on the brand. DO NOT BUY PROFORM rocker arms. Period.! You need self aligning rocker arms. A lot of people like scorpion rocker arms. I like the comp pro magnum steel rockers. harland sharp has a good name. I think steel is deffinately stronger obviously. But if its a weekend car, or a track only car. Then you can go aluminum. Guys have been running aluminum's for years. Good luck with it. 1.6 over 1.5 for more valve lift. that alone should not raise your engine rpm's.
