will valve seals cause this
Students recently "overhauled" my heads and I noticed on start-up, I always get a big blue puff of smoke and it sounds like my plugs are fouled. Sometime it clears up and sometimes it keeps smoking as I rev it up. After the job was done the kid forgot to put in the new springs so he disassembled and reassembled them.Someone suggested that it may be the valve seals.Anyone have any input? thanks

bring to a shop and pay for a proper valve job including new guides
install new head gaskets
reinstall heads

Students work for free, but in the end it will cost you more than you saved.
They either didn't even put the valve seals in, or they forgot some of them because more then one kid took a turn, but most likely they damaged the seals when they installed them.
