vortec 350 cam in 305 tbi
vortec 350 cam in 305 tbi
Ok ive been inactive for a while, I sold my 87 Iroc back in March 2010, I just picked up a 1991 RS 305 a few weeks ago thats in perrdy good condition. Motor runs fine but it has a horrible exhaust leak at the pass side manifold where it meets the y-pipe. Planning on running a true dual set up with a long tubes, also I ABSOLUTELY HATE all the emission junk that clutters up te pass side of the engine bay, needless to say its getting ripped out along with the a/c components. My goal is to make this little engine as efficient as possible. Notice i did not say economical, if i want economical i would have got a hybrid malibu or somethin. My question is has anyone ever tinkered around and slid a cam out of a 96+ 350 vortec into a stock 305 tbi? i love the power that my Tahoe lays down. dont get me wrong i kno the 350 vortec and the 305 tbi are not even close to power output but i have availability of many different parts and i was just wondering what kind of power would that cam swap make. eventually i may just drop in a complete L31 but for now, how does this sound with the exhaust set up im working on

the lt1 cam works good everyone says , i got mine from ebay for about 50 bucks . i'm just waiting for a set of vortec heads to put it in . theres vortec heads right now on ebay for 499 plus shipping . if i had a job i'd be all over those . just an idea

I'll look into it. As far as heads go, I'm gonna stick to the factory heads. I'm not tryin to sink a ton of money into a 305 when I could jus drop in a vortec 350 for around the same price, build it then have tripple the power. I'm tryin to keep this 305 cheap and efficiant but make it peeppy

Alotta maze with very little cheeze.
If you'r egoing to go to that much expense and effort, get AT LEAST some kind of a cam that you'll actually be able to notice a difference, which that one won't.

No; I'm talking about the cam the OP asked about. The truck cam.
Some of the LT1 cams would be OK. Specifically, the F- and Y-body ones. There's several varieties of those actually. The B-body ones are to be avoided, they're not much better than the truck cams.

only reason i asked about the L31 cam is because i have a brand new one in the box thats been sittin in my tool box for three yrs un touched. im not really gonna dump alot of cash into a L03.... especially "this" L03....
