fuel gauge

i have an 1989 305 tbi 5 speed camaro but the fuel gauge stays on full dues that mean the sending unit needs to be changed for just a bad gauge

To check the sending unit without dropping the tank since you have to drop the rear axle. Jack the rear of the car you should see a wiring harness with three wires (unsure of the colors) unplug it. Turn the car to the on position and see if it goes to empty. If it dont try using a jumper wire on the harness and check that way. I found out my sending unit was bad because of the jumper wire then pulled the unit out of the tank and noticed that whoever changed the fuel pump broke the float arm off. I hope that helps
