1989 305 TBI head change need help.

I have a 1989 RS 305 TBI. I recently had a mechanic change out some bad heads. The mechanic basically left it unfinished. He put the heads on, intake and distributer. But said when i saw him later that he still had to adjust the valves, and do the ignition timing. For the car to run, I think thats all it needs. Now he doesnt even answer my phone calls, or call me. I've been patient for being an impatient person. I currently am using my girlfriends Volkswagon Jetta to get around, and I am just ready to get my baby back on the road again. Its been since September 2010 since i've actually driven it. After contracting several mechanics that just wasted my time and patience, I've come to the conclusion that i would try to do it myself. Anybody got anything to help me. I dont want it to come to the point where i have to sell it.

First is getting your car back in your possession. We can't help you get it running if it's locked away where you can't get your hands on it.

Re: 1989 305 TBI head change need help.

Its actually at my dads house, and I've got an extra key. The mechanic would go do work over there. The first mechanic I used was a good friend of mine, but when people at his normal job started quiting he had to work extra, being the manager and all. I told him I understood, and left it there. He left it dismantled, and all the new parts where there. So I contracted a new mechanic, after having waited patiently for my mechanic. This mechanic went a day and was able to get the heads on, intake. He did forget to put on the...what are they called, The sensor on the right rear end of the intake manifold? And the harness that holds the kick down cable and other two cables on the left end of the intake. Does this make sense? If so, would taking out the intake bolts to install these parts affect the intake gaskets? Thats also one of my fears. But yes the car is in my possession.
