1992 305 tbi not starting no fuel
I got this car for my wife over the winter. The p.o. said it was sitting for a year but was started once in a while. It ran when we parked it now the engine turns but won't start. I replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the injectors but dosent seem to be getting fuel. If you pour some gas in the tbi t starts and runs untill the fuel is gone. I have checked the fuses and there is a relay on the firewall drivers clicking when you turn the key on. I am not hearing the fuel pump come on (should I?) I can hear the fuel pump on my tpi iroc come on. Any ideas or is the fuel pump dead? The car is for sale but everyone is asking why it wont start so I would like to get it running maybe it will sell.

Yep, your fuel pump should be priming and you should be able to hear it if you listen carefully. Now if you dont hear it, go over to your cars battery and right in front of your battery is a tiny lil black box that should be mounted to the fender.
Pop open the cap to that lil box and there will be a (fuel pump) fuse. Make sure its not popped.

I checked next to the battery and there is a fuse. It's good. There are are 2 relays against the firewall on the drivers side. One of those clicks when I turn the key. Should both of them be clicking when I turn the key? I don't really want to drop the tank unless I have to.

only one should click and thats a good sign, sounds like your fuel pump went. If the relay wasn't clicking I would say start there. I forget which terminals to use but if you search you can find which termials to jump to check the fuel pump. Just pop the line off where it goes into the tbi and put it into a bucket. That should give you an idea if the pump is working or not.

I did a search for the fuel pump wires. I ran a jumper from the large orange wire to the tan/white wire and nothing happened. The orange wire is getting 12.88 volts. Before I drop the tank on this thing. Are there any more tests to do or is jumping the orange wire to the tan/white wire it to test the fuel pump? I did not pull the fuel line loose I just listened for the fuel pump to come on.

I might replace it. I really want to work on my iroc project. I lowered the price on the 92 rs.
