'86 Power Steering Pump Shaft Bearing Replacement

Is it possible to replace the bearing w/o disassembling the whole unit (after the pulley is removed)? This is the standard "P" pump which is still mounted on the engine in her Camaro which is in my pole barn 25 miles away.
I've been surfing Google and this site to no avail and have never had to repair/rebuild one of these.
Google helps w/ the whole rebuilding process but I'd rather just remove and replace the bearing ($10) from the front than buy a reman ($50+) or bearing and seal kit ($30) and have to tear this thing apart.

As a side note I want to thank you all for this very informative site. It's helped me many a time when working on my gal's car. I've been lurking for awhile and just wanted to give ya'll a big thanks as well as a

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

The pump has to be disassembled.

Unless you do what I do (and probably what 99.99436% of members do) and get a rebuilt unit from the local chain parts store.

five7kid,

Thanks for the quick reply even though I wasn't looking forward to the inevitable answer you gave.

I'm gonna be one of the .00564% of members and just rebuild it for the learning process if anything else.

Oh..I forgot to disable AdBlock for this site earlier...that's fixed now.
