Vibration Issue

I did some searching on the forum and a few other places. However I guess I just didnt get the answer Im looking for, or I had missed it.

I have a 91 Camaro 305 with a t-5 tranny. I just had the clutch replaced along with resurfacing of the fly wheel and ajustments to the clutch. Overall the pedal feels better, it shifts tighter and works great. The car is basically stock. A few years back I put in an aluminum drive shaft and a posi disc rear with 4.10 gears.

Just before going to the shop there began a vibration while driving. I asked them to check everthing which they did. I know these guys at the shop and trust them. There still is a slight vibration in the car. The guys told me they checked the driveshaft, rear, flywheel and so on and they were good. Thier suggestion was the harmonic balancer.

The engine is an Advance Auto Parts replacement I put in back in 2003. I have had no problems with the motor other than minor issues. The harmonic balancer came off the original motor with about 171,xxx miles on it. The a/c and air pump are deleted.

At idle, the harmonic balancer appears to have a slight wobble, compared to the other pulleys. The vibration is minimal at idle but very noticeable between 1500 and 2500 rpm. While driving, the vibration is very noticeable while shifting through the gears, but once up into 5th, and crusing, its reduced.

Thoughts or suggestions? I cant afford to chase the wrong way.

Re: Vibration Issue

First off does it vibrate while in park/nuetral revving? If thats not the same vibration then we need to be looking after the flywheel clutch to the pinion angle, u joints and rear bearings. If it is vibrating in nuetral i would inspect the front crank pulley and maybe remove the belt to rule out accesories well go from here

Re: Vibration Issue

at start in neutral and idle there is no vibration. when in neutral and slight acceleration, the vibration is felt through the steering wheel.
The flywheel was resurfaced and checked. the vibration i was told existed when the drive shaft was off. it has a new clutch and all that seems to run fine so far. the pinion angle hasnt changed and the rear was checked.
ill pull the serp belt and try that.
