86 iroc 305TPI when im driving and i let off the gas and coast the car will randomly die not all the time i seen the MAF sensor was unplugged so i plugged it in and the problem stoped but every once in a while it will do it again i dont whats causing it to do that the screens where takin out of my MAF sensor b4 i bought it the guy who i bought it from thought it was the egr valve or some thing like that i know he said a valve any one have any ideas to what the problem is?

 

a bad EGR or EGR solenoid can cause this. the screens being cut out of the MAF isnt a good idea and may cause an intermittent issue. these screens aren't to keep debris out so much as to even the airflow across the wire/element inside the barrel of the MAF. have you gotten a check engine light or tried to pull the codes?

 

yes when i start driving and the RPMs dies down to idle the light comes on and the car already had the screens cut out b4 i bought it
