head swap?

i have a 83 z28 with the 305. will putting 350 heads on make a difference or even worth doing?

Yes, it will make a difference. You'll lose compression.
If you want to go this route, you need the good Vortec heads, and you need to have them milled for compression.
Then you also need to swap intake manifolds to match.
