Engine: supercharged 305

Transmission: automatic

Axle/Gears: 3.73

car back fires after letting off the gas

I was told i have an exhaust leak at the headers. Could that be causing the back firing. It only does it after medium or hard accelaration, when i let off the gas. Any help would be appreciated.
