Speedo problems
Ok so i bought this car not long ago, and for the most part it has been in the garage getin serviced, but when i had it out driveing it around for the little time i did, i noticed a few things, The speedo would bounce around at times, it would completely shut off, and also the miles in the car would flip threw like 10 miles a min, which kinda makes me mad, cause i have no idea how many actual miles are on the car considering i have no idea how long its been doing this, but the previous owner i bought it from, when i called him up just said "yah it does that"... Anyway, when it shuts off completely the miles dont even count at all, im not sure at all what the issue is any point in the right direction would be nice, if its a wire or something along those lines, there was alot of cut up wireing which ive repaired now so im not sure if that was possibly the issue or not. Thanks in advanced =]

Hey, Joe,
Listing year, make, model, engine and trans are always helpful in trying to diagnose problems.

Re: Speedo problems
91 camaro, but see the thing is, its kinda odd, because like i said i bought it recently, and the casting numbers on the block say its a older motor, 80-84, it has the oringal heads, and its tbi, the transmission is a 700R4, but i pulled it out along with the motor and it needs replaceing, The transmission is a 27 spline which means its before 84 1/2. The transmission has a big K on the side which from what i read means its from a truck>? im not sure. 1991 chevy camaro RS 305 700r4

Re: Speedo problems
pull out the VSS and check the gears. If they are OK then it could be the VSS, cluster or the wiring.

Re: Speedo problems
Well aparently whoever had this car had subs in the back and just cut into ALOT of the wireing, and ive had the car in the garage for a good 2-3 months or so, and ive repaired all that with some liquid tape. all togeather i had to repair atleast 15-20 wires. most of them where on the drivers side up by the break fluid right behind that
