Have questions about my new toy
Hello everybody, I am a big gearhead, but I am new here.
I recently traded a 75' firechicken for an 85' T-Top Trans-Am. This thing is loaded, every factory option you could think of, even 4 wheel disk.
I guess its suppose to be one of the rare 350 TPI's. It also has most all of the GTA stuff as well, but someone stole the spoiler and badges, but they didn't get the 16" wheels.
A friend thought it might be the GTA prototype they mocked up in 85, its even from van nuys ??.
I was wondering if anyone has plugged an msd into these distributors with any success ?, since it's basically a vette' motor. I was going to slap on a k&n cold air kit & throttle body spacer as well.
Where are the engine ID numbers located ?, and what are the buttons just below the headlight switch and left of the column. I figure it's probably the a/c on, off switches (switch dont have power yet).
I have been doing bodywork and getting ready to shoot it midnight black and synergy green, maybe lacquer metal flake candy green.
If anyone has any ideas or any performance mods, please drop me a line and let me know. THANKS

Re: Have questions about my new toy
If it's an 85 model year unless it's had an engine swap if it has a TPI equipped engine under the hood it is without a doubt a 305. If it still has it's factory emissions sticker it should confirm that. The casting numbers on the block would be located on the drivers side rear of the block behind the drivers side head, it may also include a 5.0 stamp. Assuming it's a factory engine it will have the factory stamped suffix code along with a partial vin in front of the passanger side cylinder head indentifying the origional vehicle it was installed in. Also unless you are mistaken on the year its not a gta since they first became available in 1987.
