mechanic in tempe az

Everyone has been so great in offering suggestions for my car issues, but I am going to need to take it to someone. . . Does anyone know someone knowlegeable with fuel issues? It runs vroom vroom but then seems to sputter sputter until it dies and then will not restart for hours and do then do the same. . . A reliable, decent and fair mechanic would be a blessing!

Re: mechanic in tempe az

Any one of these cars is now 20 years old; old enough in some states to qualify as an antique.

"Taking it to a mechanic" is not the way to handle them. YOu need to learn to do some of the real simple stuff yourself. If you can't or won't, then these cars are not the cars for you.

In the case of what you describe, sounds like the ignition module. Take yours out, and get it tested at AZ or wherever. Just make sure it's REAL HOT when they test it, like heat it up with a heat gun until you can't hold onto it any more. THat's when those fail: they work OK when cold, but when they heat up to normal engine temp, they flake.

Or, as cheap as they are, just replace it. Less work than fioddling around with testing, and very few pennies.

If your car is a TPI you could take it to AZTPI, they definitely know their stuff. They are basically at University and McClintock in Tempe.

Did you get the ignition module replaced yet, like in your last couple of threads?
