need timing help

Car: 1988 GTA Trans am 1 owner since new
Engine: 383 built
Transmission: 1995 camaro t56 6 speed
Axle/Gears: 3.24 posi 9 bolt
need timing help
I just rebuilt the whole top end of my 88 gta 5.0l tpi 5 speed.
i know the timing is 6 deg btdc
how do i disable the ecu thing??? where is it and how do i do it??
also...the notches on my harmonic balncer how many degree inclements are the slots??
pls let me know its runing and ideling but i think its retarted a bit...cause its lacking throttle resposnce...i have a basic timing light

Theres a brown wire in the harness near where the a/c blower motor is. It has a black connector which you disconnect.
Usually there's only one mark on the balancer, and there are several markings and numbers on the tab fixed to the timing chain cover. Those numbers should guide you, but they are usually 1 or 2degs.
