Alternator Output Voltage?

I have an 88 IROC. I believe the alternator is stock or a stock replacement. With the vehicle running at idle, the voltage measured at my battery has been around 14.6 to 14.7 volts. It has always seemed to hover around this voltage at idle. Someone is telling me that this is too high. Is it really?

Re: Alternator Output Voltage?

I agree sounds okay. If you're really worried take it to an auto zone and they will test it on the car for free.
