Well today im going to go see an iroc that im thinking of buying the guy claims its an 88 iroc with ttops a 5.7 tpi and a good body.

I know that some irocs came with 305 tpis, and im wondering if there is anyway for me to be able to tell if its a 5.7 by looking at his car?

I know that a lot of people mistake 305s for 350s.

And i think gm was picky about putting 5.7s in t top cars not sure if they actually used that combination could someone verify or give me some info.

You could get a 350 with t-tops from 1987-1990.

Visbilly it's hard to tell a 350 from a 305 under the hood. The emissions sticker will tell ou, as well as the VIN. Also 350's will say 5.7 Tuned Port injection on the bumper. Of course all of this is thrown out of the window if the motor has been swappped from factory.

 

Thanks man i just wanted to make sure that ttops didnt automatically rule out a 5.7. Ill keep an eye out on those things and research the vin.

 

If you can find the SPID sheet (usually in the console I think for IROCs) look for L98 or LB9. L98 is 5.7, LB9 is 5.0 TPI. LG4 is 5.0 carb. All the codes are in alphabetical order.
