Block 10243880, oil filter relocation questions

Okay, so I have block 10243880, (one piece RMS, 4 bolt main, for what it's worth). This block was used from 96-00 (95-00 by some sources), and is a Gen 1 block.

I already have a trans-dapt oil filter relocation kit on there (no model number, or else I could work backwards), but the "elbows" running from it to make the turn are too long, and I had no luck in finding shorter ones. So I was looking at pieces that had the 90 degree turn in them already, like this:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CTR-22-593/

Unfortunately it's not for a Gen 1. Their Gen 1 model (592) is for 67-95 blocks, and given the conflicting information I've found on my block, I didn't want to order a part that I'd have to wind up returning.

Can anyone confirm if the oil filter type (size/base/thread) was the same for this Gen 1 block and earlier ones?
Or do they definitely require a filter with a different base?

Thanks!

Re: Block 10243880, oil filter relocation questions

The offset oil filter adapter for '96 Corvettes is the same as earlier LT1 Vettes. Those run the same oil filter block pad area as Gen I SBC. I'm 99% sure you're fine with that one. Summit techs on the phone / IM are usually pretty helpful. Not sure about Canton.

When swapping to an offset / cooler adapter one, I like the GM seal/gasket sets a little better than the Fel-Pro sets.

Thanks JMD!

I should have posted an update. We did finally find the same one as what I had in there. Sadly it took two to get a decent one, and even that one still leaks around the outer seal (the first one had a functional-impacting casting flaw).

So At some point in the future I'll be taking that thing back out so I can try to seal it up with some Permatex gasket maker or something. lol.
