Need Help Failed Inspection High HC PPM at idle
Hey guys im new to the forums my name is Frank. i just got a 88 firebird formula with 75k miles for a steal.
So basically i failed the inspection my HC at idle was 320 its meant to be under 220 according to the sheet they gave me.
The car does have a cat and passed all the other tests.
The car was sitting for about 12 years i know the owner put wired and a new fuel pump on the car, it also had old gas sitting in it but i had already burned through about 2 full tanks of gas. im thinking i may just need new plugs im not sure if they were changed so i will take a look today to see what condition they are in. Is there anything else that i should look at?
Thanks 3rd gen guys,
Frank

I would check the O2 sensor and air filter. The plugs are probably fine unless it has a cylider not firing.
