91 Z28 305 TPI 5speed

I recently bought a 91 Z28 and shes bonestock. I had a few things i was wondeing about like the smog stuff thats on there. What all is involved in taking it off, also will the check engine light be on? What is a good rpm range at idle warmed up after driving about 15-20 minutes. I was looking at putting the Eibach Sportline lowering springs on her, is there anything that i should or have to change before then? Any info will help out a lot,Thanks!

www.thirdgen.org/serpentine

I'd do shocks/struts with springs, as well as ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arm, sway bar bushings, and end links.

Removing smog equipment will do nothing for performance. If you do decide to, it would be better to have "air" removed in the chip also.

Re: 91 Z28 305 TPI 5speed

Oh really? I was told if you take it all off it will help out mostly cause your taking one of the pullies off of crank and was good for +10-15hp. Also whats the "air" removed in the chip your talking about? Is it like the hypertech chip? Cause thats one of the little bolt-ons I was going to do. I dont want to go to crazy with her cause she is alllllll original and i just love that haha I just want a fun street car!

Re: 91 Z28 305 TPI 5speed

You won't really see any gains that way, maybe if you go with underdrive pulleys, then you may gain 5hp. If anything, and you will run into charging problems with underdrive pulleys if you do the alternator pulley. Hypertech cannot change any of the emission settings . So there is your answer to "air removal" What i was referring to is a custom chip you would make or have some one else burn for you. Then you could have "air " removed from the chip.I would not bother with a hypertech. I picked up 20 hp going back to my stock chip.
