engine is POPPING

I have a 350 tpi 1987 trans am, it has no codes when running, but can't hold an idle to save its life. I just changed the injectors and it wasn't doing this problem before and I'm stumped because it ran fine befored but now it can't idle and when I give it a little gas to keep it running the passenger side bank pops almost like a backfire up the intake..........any ideas?

Detonation, retard your timing.Either you left a vacuum line off somewhere or your ecm is confused.Take your negative battery cable off all night.Try it,ya got nothing to lose.

I repliied to your emaiil, but I don"t know how this message board works.Yeah, your distributor advance is vacuum controlled,It sounds like your engine is firing before tdc.I explained it in a little more detail in the email I sent you,This is just my experience with c3 vettes, panhead

ll your sensors have to be back on,tooWater temp, oil temp, lower right side of block, even your a/c sensor. They all send a signal to one of your ecms so you cant cook your motor. they tell your fan when to kick on.

Re: engine is POPPING

why did you change injectors?I don't have much experiencexcept the usualMSD6AL stuff like that.if you went bigger injectors for more power your fuel to air ratio is all mixed up.If it was mine,I would'nt drive it much. You can burn a valve or blow out ringsI've got experience on c3 vettes, crossfire or tpiI know just enough to be dangeous.I bought this T/A cause I liked the lookis of itI wanna keep nit a 5.0 car so I can race it in that class.I'm putting a whipple supercharger on it now,but I have to use the stock headsor else my cubic inches goes up.I'm getting a real experience.9.3 comp ratio with a blower on it.Oh boy...Sorry I could'nt be more help, you can email me if you have any Questions.....panhead201
