thoughts on my 454's performance

i have a 454 that i took to the track for the first time last week. she is in a 3500 lb camaro. here are some of the specs:
1050 dominator
team g single plane intake
781 large oval heads w/ 2.25"/1.88" valves
13:1 compression
262/270 @ .050" dur and .637/.635 lift solid flat tappet
1 7/8" hooker headers and dual 3" thrush welded mufflers
3800 stall with a th350
she ran a 12.02 at 117 mph with a 1.81 60'
she had a afr of 11.8-12.0 on the run with 87 front and 88 rear jets
34 degrees timing on vp110
shifted at about 6800
my only problem is i thought she would be making more power, do you think i left much power on the table with the timing and afr so low? or do i need a smaller carb/ bigger headers?
Any thoughts would be appreciated

Rear gears? Tire compound & size? Suspension mods?

This may help the gurus out there help you..

That's very close to the build I want to do!! I'll be following this!

Good luck!!

I'm still on the 3.45 9 bolt, running et streets thus being the reason I didn't want to launch it too hard. The car has stock suspension with spohn LCA's

Re: thoughts on my 454's performance

AFR isn't bad. Slightly rich but still in a good range. I wouldn't recommend going more than 12.7.

Bump up the timing. 34 is a little low. Try 36-38. Changing the timing will change the AFR.

If you're shifting the TH350 at 6800, what rpm are you crossing the finish line at?

she ran a 12.02 at 117 mph with a 1.81 60'
I did that with only a 383 10+ years ago. Something in your combination of parts isn't working well together. There's no reason you shouldn't have a 10 second timeslip.

Something is off, that thing should be doing a lot better than it is. Don't need bigger headers, guys go 10's using 1 3/4". Bump the timing up and see what happens.

Re: thoughts on my 454's performance

make only one change at a time and take notes,
that combo should easily go noticeably faster, but Id get the a/f ratio closer to 12.7:1 and make the timing curve look like this as a first step, and advance the timing slowly
