Did a lot of work - want to know where the oil pressure should be.

It's about 30 cold, goes down to about 15 when the coolant is 198*.

I have had the heads machined+valves done, replaced my leaking oil pressure switch. It's running Pennzoil 5w-30 SYN. right now.

I'm not sure where it should be. When I got the car back in 07, the oil pressure was all over the place.

15-ish at idle hot sounds ok. Then 10-ish more for each 1000-ish rpm.

If pressure reading is all over the place, replace the sender first, and/or try another gauge, before freaking out.

15 hot and 30 cold is a little low, not the worst though. could be the sender as previously mentioned, could be the gauge, could be the oil pump or in worst case, its the main bearings starting to wear

or low on oil or need an oil change- this is obvious and probebly doesnt apply

Sender is new. Oil level is fine. I'll check it with an actual gauge, similar to one used for a compression test.

best range would be in between 35-45. varies with rpm, but 15 is low

The stock dash gauge is not a precision instrument - so long as the pointer is off the peg at idle, and goes up with rpm, is as good an indication as it's going to give. More an indicator of oil pressure behaviour, rather than absolute psi.

My pointer will typically read lower hot vs cold, as the oil gets thinner and easier to pump.
