power steering. and belts. and a few others.

Hi, I just bought an 86 iroc z yesterday. . but it only has the main belt plus the power steering belt from main pully to the back of the power steering pulley. could this cause the power steering to act funny, only having the one belt ran to it? the fluid is full.

Also, this is my first camaro. and I know that it has aftermarket mods, im just not sure what. it runs good while driving. but while stopped at lights it wants to die in drive. and when in park it idles low, will stay idling for awhile (minute or two) then just turns off. any ideas would be much appreciated.

I'm assuming from the sound of that it has a v belt setup similar to what my 2.8 had, if so, only having one belt on it shouldn't matter, I believe the AC is the other belt that ran to that other pulley, on my car at least, as for the idle, that could be any # of things, do you have any codes, or misfires, or is it just idling real low and dying sometimes?

yeah the one of the belts missing is the ac one. maybe just an old power steering pump. but i dont have any codes yet.. it doesnt miss, it just dies sometimes.. its not a constant problem. i will check the codes in the next 24 hrs.

Re: power steering. and belts. and a few others.

Okay, so I got three codes.

22 - Throttle Position Sensor(what is the difference between code 21 and 22?)

24 - Vehicle Speed Sensor (guessing this is why my spedo doesnt work)

44 - Lean Exhaust.

So, what I plan on doing for now is cleaning, MAP, MAF, and the throttle body/plate. Or am I off base? Any help would be nice. This is my first "performance" like car.

EDIT WAS TO FIX TYPOS D;
