Problem with belts.
Problem with belts.
I have a 1983 Chevy Camaro V6 engine.
The other day I did a burn out in my camaro and heard a knock in the engine when I lost power steering. I limped the car home and popped the hood to my coolant tank boiling and fan belts off (Minus the air because I tore that out). When I reattach the belts the alternator belt flips upside down, when I finally got the belts on and the engine running with the belts on and running I went to take it out to test drive it and as soon as I punched the gas the engine knocked and both belts came right off again. What's going on and what the heck did I do?? Help!!

Re: Problem with belts.
Belts need to be tighter. You should only be able to push the belt maybe 1/2 inch after install.
