Oxygen Sensor

I have been looking online for an Oxygen Sensor for my 82 Firebird. I live in Ireland so have to get it mail order from the States. I believe all the Thirdgens use the one wire sensor (but could be wrong!) which I think is an SG5 type. Here is the thing, I look at one site for one that fits my car, say a Bosch 12014 but when I look at another site it says this sensor is not compatable. The sensors I looked at all have the correct connector on them. Does anyone know is the SG5 sensor correct for the Thirdgens. Don't want to order one, find out the ECM doesn't like it and have to wait over two weeks for another one to arrive.

Thanks.

given your location ,unless you only want original parts on your car I would buy a single wire O2 locally and just change the connector .I am sure a local parts place or supplier in the UK could hook you up with a identical Bosch unit? ( without correct connector )

Not all site info is correct
From the pics # 12014 Universal O2 Sensor for GM looks like the O2 sensor used on most GM cars to '90 at least

Re: Oxygen Sensor

I went for a standard one in the end as that was cheaper postage to Ireland. The bosch is an equivilent part. The ECU ignores the O2 sensor until the engine reaches operating temperature. So you should know after 5 - 10 minutes. Can be a bitch to get these out if they haven't been changed in a long time.
