Rocker arm question

I'm rebuilding my 350 and I had a question about rocker arms. I want roller tipped rockers like these http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS-Performan...31437/10002/-1 but can I just bolt those in and can I have 1.6 ratio rockers with the stock cam and springs?

Re: Rocker arm question

Might be better off stepping up to the comp magnums for a little more. Theyre stronger and more consistant than the stamped steel ones. Those ones from jegs wont be much better than what you have stock.

What engine are you working with? Stock L98?

Re: Rocker arm question

1.6 on a stock cam will be fine. if your already rebuilding the motor, id spend the money on a cam first,..if your trying to achieve more lift & duration from the 1.6s? more power for the money. on the rockers, id save for some full rollers or look for some good used ones. JMO.

Re: Rocker arm question

When I think "rebuild" I envision the engine torn down completely.

Is that your definition as well? if so, then since the cam is already out and new bearings being installed, why re-use the old cam?

If you want performance, while the heads are torn down and being worked, why re-use the stock springs?

But, if your definition of rebuild is different, please explain what is really being done and we can go from there.

Re: Rocker arm question

looks like a good deal on the rockers. those heads are 58cc. with your flat-tops, those 58cc heads will most likely not like pump gas. id stick with 64cc heads. that cam is barely over stock. id try the k1103 or k1104 for a mild build.

Re: Rocker arm question

my fault. i thought you had a carb motor for some unknown reason. duhho! tpi is touchy to changes in cams. now i see why you wanted to use 1.6s on a stock cam. most tpi motors use self-aligning rockers. changes in compression may warrant a computer/chip tune, possible larger injecters, more fuel pressure, etc. IF, you need computer/chip work, may as well see if you can get away with a little more cam.
