put car on jackstands or lift,
unhook battery,
remove starter
and then plugs are easy

Re: PITA Spark Pluggs Please help!!!!!

FYI

with shorty headers they are a piece of cake

you will get no sympathy from me until you've tried it on an LT or LS 4th gen

even with long tube headers it's a chore.

like the other poster said, you will just need to remove whatever is in the way or trying jacking up the engine

I have no experience changing plugs on a 3rd gen with stock exh manifold. I tossed those out 30 days after buying the car when i yanked the engine

Re: PITA Spark Pluggs Please help!!!!!

I have stock Fbody manifolds, both types of SLP headers, hooker long tubes on my cars and I dont think plugs are that bad? Stock manifold is hardest followed by edelbrock pass header..
The LT1 stuff sucks, done both stock and long tubes. Stock is waaaay worse than the headers.
The LS stuff is the easiest yet !!!

not to go too far off track but the engineers weren't thinking when they designed the engine bay on the 4th gens

Re: PITA Spark Pluggs Please help!!!!!

On thirdgen V8 with A/C and stock manifolds, spark plugs #4, #6 and #8 can be removed from the bottom easily without moving starter.

Re: PITA Spark Pluggs Please help!!!!!

I have been spending most my cash on just getting the car in optimal condition. I cant do upgrades without making sure shes fit for the road. it already hauls *** and im still getting used to it. Im used to working on old Chevy trucks, easy to fix everything. Thank god for this amazing website.
