Car won't start when hot
I have a 91 Camaro RS . After doing an engine swap... out with the 305 and putting in a 355 I have had issues with the car not starting after it gets hot if you stall it (it's a 5 speed) or turn it off and immediatly try to restart it.It trys to turn over but seems to drain the battery in doing so.You then have to jump it off.If the car set for a while maybe 20 minutes or so or cool completly down it refires with no problem. The battery has been checked and shows its good.I've put a new starter on.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Car won't start when hot
what grade of fuel are you running? My 87 gta WAS a b***h to start hot until I switched from 94 down too 89, since then it starts up just fine when hot.
2. "re-double" check your timing too! (just a thought)

Re: Car won't start when hot
I run mostly 89 and sometimes 93.It acts up on either.I checked the timing and the mark is not even within the area with the degrees you set it by.I've tried looking on the online and even bought a repair manual for it and can't find out what the correct timing should be.The only mods to the motor so far is the guy that put the motor in put a little bit bigger cam in.

Re: Car won't start when hot
This sounds very similar to what happend to me, i have headers on my car and given the location of them, they get hot and are right next to the starter. Appearently if the starter gets to hot it will not work but if you jump it, it works. The two options i had were either cover the starter with a heat sheild or replace it with a smaller starter. I chose to use the smaller starter. The 4th gens use smaller starters and will bolt right up, not to mention how much easier they are to install. Once i replaced the starter with a 4th gen never had that issue again, hope this helps
