Anyone know the ratings of these fusible links. They need to be replaced

Ok so as I have posted before I have had this starting issue for a while. It's been kind of random. However in one of the attempts to start the car I noticed the fusible links and the junction block right by the battery were smoking a tad. Not enough heat to melt the wires but it made me think maybe I should replace those things. Here's a pic of what I'm talking about...

Can anyone tell me what amp rating those things are? I've checked at work and called around to the other local parts stores and no one has them. I even called the local Chevy dealer to see if they could tell me or at least get the part. Please help. This has so far been the hardest thing to find for this car. Thanks a bunch.

Things usually only smoke because of a hot wire getting ground or a bad connection somewhere. the blue connector to me looks like a wire connector.

Yeah the blue piece is a butt connector. The black ones are the fusible links in question. What you see in the picture is the way I bought it so I don't know what may have been done to the car wiring wise other than the hack job instalation of a keyless entry and alarm system. I have removed that but I'm wondering if I should take that junction block off clean it real good and make sure all connections are tight. I was just wondering what the amp ratings were on those so I could find replacements or possible put inline fuses in their place. When the car does actually start it runs great. It's just this one little ghost of a problem that's been the biggest headache.

Re: Anyone know the ratings of these fusible links. They need to be replaced

The only F.L. failures I've replaced were due to another wiring problem in the car. Those each feed several things in the car and yes it's a pain to track down.

Tips: I got lucky in that a previous crimp job of a major feed from F.L. to the firewall electrical plug gave out which made it able to be tracked down. I did have to refer to the factory Helms svc. manual to figure it out.

Autozone had fusible link wire in stock but it's not referenced correctly to make/model/year like most parts. Search around in the fittings/bolts/wiring/etc. stuff until you find fusible link wire; you'll be matching by wire size.

Your 91 has that F.L. feeding other wires and it would be worth your while to check continuity of each wire until you find the issue. It sucks when harnesses are wrapped up and run behind distributors and such but it's great when you find the problem. Hopefully you have the '91 Helms. Good luck.

As soon as I can get a free day or two to start chasing this down I'll start with the continuity testing. Thanks for the advice! Where would I get the helms manual for my 91?
